Living Skills

All students participate in food technology on a weekly basis for 1 hour. They are given opportunities to help prepare a range of different types of foods using a variety of electrical equipment and cooking utensils.

The very nature of the "hands on" approach in the Homecrafts room adds a real life component to the curriculum and assists the students to develop basic food preparation skills.

At all times the children are encouraged to make informed decisions about good nutrition and dietary practices whilst developing an understanding of the safe practices and hygiene necessary in the selection, handling and storage of food.
