The Junior area of Katandra school consists of Foundation (Prep), Grade 1 and Grade 2.
The children beginning school come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences and often have a range of skills and abilities.
Throughout the Junior area there is a focus on communication and social skills both within the classroom and in the playground. Learning happens through a mix of structured teaching and play based activities with teacher support to assist children to develop skills to interact appropriately with the other children.
We aim to provide a warm and caring environment where children are eager to engage in activities with an educational intent.
Literacy and numeracy skills are aimed at the level of each child through an individual program. Teachers reflect and evaluate programs to make sure they are directed appropriately to each child.
We aim to work in partnership with parents and are happy to assist with home issues.
